James L. Miller Sr., the best role model, mentor, supporter, teacher and father anyone could have.
James passed away on Thursday, August 15, 2024, at Mercy Hospital at the age of 83.
He was born, November 10, 1940, to York and Katie Bell Miller in Columbus Georgia. He was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Gloria Miller and his son James Miller Jr. He is survived by his sisters Katie Allen and Sue Miller; daughters Cindy Miller and Tracy Miller; grandchildren Jaslynn (Joshua), Patrick, Bryanna and David; great-grandchildren Amora, Arabella, Jalen, Brielle, Brijai, Jamal and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
James graduated from Spencer High School in Columbus Georgia as the senior class president. He attended Howard University majoring in Pre-Med leaving to enlist in the United States Air Force.
James was a member of Zion Global Ministries. He read his bible daily. He instilled in his children the meaning of loving God. He taught his children and grandchildren to stand tall, be proud and to be true to yourself.
James was a very smart and intelligent man. He was a hardworking man who instilled his work ethic into his children. He worked for many companies including Beckett Paper, Home Depot, Lowes, Furrow, Sears, and Sears Hardware.
James loved watching football. He was a loyal Cincinnati Bengals and Cincinnati Reds fan. James also loved watching old western movies. One of James’ favorite pastimes was sitting outside in the fresh air talking to friends and family near and afar.
James lived his life full of love and happiness. He lived life on his terms and enjoyed every minute of it. He truly loved his family and spending time with them.
