Irene Bates

Irene Bates (nee Boyd) was born to the late Mr. B Boyd and Mrs. Willa Mae Boyd in Marianna, Arkansas. Parents and moved to Cincinnati, Ohio when she was about 9 years of age. She departed this life on Friday, April 1, 2022.

She was united in Holy Matrimony to Mr. Donald Bates and to this union was born one child Cynthia Bates. She was preceded in death by her loving daughter, Mrs. Cynthia Lackey (nee Bates) on July 23, 2016.

Irene accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior at an early age and was a longtime member of the Rockdale Baptist Church in Cincinnati, Ohio where she served on the Usher Board for many years.

Irene was employed at Jewish Hospital for over 45+ years as a Supervisor in Food Services before this medical institution transitioned to the Health Alliance. She was loved by her staff, a
woman of integrity, had a great sense of humor and was known for accepting her favorite candy, Mr. Goodbar from staff in exchange for approval of vacation time and rescheduling of their off-days. Irene also enjoyed traveling and playing cards.

Irene leaves to cherish her memories a host of relatives and friends.
