Henrietta Hardy was born in Montgomery, AL to Samuel and Cora Davis on January 17, 1931. On June 17, 2023, she went to her final resting place and joined the host of others who preceded her.
Henrietta was a young woman when she moved to Cincinnati from Alabama. She married her true love, Louis Hardy, affectionately known as “Tea” to family and friends. They lived in growing areas like the West End and Avondale and though their union was fun, exciting and lasted for many years, it ultimately ended but they remained close friends.
It was in Avondale that she joined and remained a longtime member of Rockdale Church. Henrietta was known for her beautiful hats, sharp heels and timeless suits. She was always dressed and ready for church. Though she loved Rev. Rousseau O’neal II and was saddened by his death, she was excited that his legacy, Rousseau Andre O’neal III would become the pastor. She continued to attend church until illness prohibited her.
Henrietta worked hard as a housekeeper and moved to Mt. Healthy, Oh where she resided for over 50 years. For over 30 years she shared this home with her longtime friend and “partner in crime”, James Wesley Harris (deceased). They often had family gatherings in the basement for Christmas & New Year’s and hosted backyard summer cookouts. She loved to garden and entertain.
She is preceded in death by her parents Samuel and Cora Davis and all of her siblings- brothers John and Sam Jr., sisters Mary F. Lewis, Delia Steele, Louise Green, Irene Jackson and Willa Mae Hamilton. Henrietta never had children of her own, but cherishing her memory are her nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives.
