Heloise Buckner, formerly of Paris, Kentucky, but a long time resident of Cincinnati, Ohio, has begun her final journey ―home‖. She departed this life on September 11, 2014.
Heloise was the only child of George and Helen Buckner and the loving wife for 33 years of William Ray Buckner (all deceased).
She will be remembered by the many people whose lives she touched and improved just from knowing her. She was a person who loved to go dancing and visiting with her husband, Will.
Heloise graduated from Kentucky State College and began her teaching career in Hazard, Kentucky. She left Hazard and moved to Cincinnati, Ohio and began teaching English at Heinold Junior High School. During that time, she received her Master’s degree in Education. She was an outstanding teacher who was always able to connect with her students at all levels. When she retired from teaching, she was a reading specialist at South Avon-dale School.
Not only active in education, she was a member of the Delta Sorority. In addition, she was an active and sup-portive member of Galilee Missionary Baptist Church.
In passing, she leaves: her brother-in-law, Leon Buckner, his wife, Francis and nephew, Leon Jr. and his wife, Edie. She also leaves her closest cousin, Ronnie Mack and his family; Julius Lucas, Deonta Hicks and Rapheal Lucas,
her nephews and her godchild, Toney Harris; and her great-niece, D’yonna Hicks. In addition, she leaves many relatives by marriage, Felix and Betty McKay and family, also Juanita Norman and family, and Win and Stella Menash. Aside from family, she leaves many friends and former students who loved her for the wonderful and giving person that was always there when they needed her.
