God has provided a period of rest for Hazel Ann Jones, born November 19, 1948 in Cincinnati, Ohio to the late Emmanuel & Hazel Ziegler (nee Paige). She was the youngest of six. She departed this life on August 13, 2020. She was preceded in death by her parents; the love of her life, Calvin Palmer; one brother, Warnell Ziegler; and one sister, Helen Livingston.
She was married in 1966 to Fred A. Jones, Jr. From that union two children were born, Sonya Simpson (Jeff) and Terrill Jones (Stacy). Later another son, Anthony Thomas was born. She also had three stepchildren, Teresa Dicks (late Steve), Jan White, and the late Beverly Palmer.
She was educated in Lincoln Heights city schools. She was a firm disciplinarian with a strong work ethic. Working at Princeton Transportation for 30 years was one example of her strong work ethic which would be crucial in rearing and support of her children. Her loving heart was such that she could not turn away anyone in need of help.
Hazel Ann was an active member of Revealed Holiness House of God presiding under the late pastor Mary Welch. She attended services regularly, cooked meals for church members, helped with pantry, was on the usher board, part of the cleaning committee and part of the choir.
She was also an active member of American Legion, Eastern Star, and Elks.
She leaves in God’s hands to cherish her memory; six children, twelve grandchildren, five great grandchildren, one great-great grandchildren; three brothers, Houston Harris (late Clara), Jerry Ziegler (Cathy), and Melvin Anderson. She also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, co-workers, and friends.
