Gwendolyn “Gwenie” Smith was born on March 22, 1947, in Cincinnati, Ohio, to the late Thelma Smith and the late Willie Gene Wright Sr.
Gwenie, as her family and friends called her, accepted Jesus Christ at an early age becoming a member of Jerriell Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Albert Goodwin.
Gwenie graduated from Taft Hight School in 1965. She was a faithful employee at Cincinnati Bell until she retired after 32 years of service in 1995.
Gwenie loved to read, her favorite authors were Stephen King and James Patterson. She loved all kinds of music from R&B to Tupac, Jamaican Funk, Kirk Franklin, and CeCe Winans. She also loved to watch Lifetime Movie Network for numerous hours.
Gwenie was a loving person who loved to give. She gave to her family as much as she gave monthly to charities. Her fun time was going to the Casino with friends, which she loved going more than winning. She also loved online shopping on the HSN and QVC channels.
Gwenie was diagnosed with cancer in 2010 and 2014, both times she did the unpredictable, winning the battle. She was diagnosed with health challenges a few months ago and was able to continue winning the battle until the Lord called her home November 2, 2023.
