Gladys Mae Peek was born in Logan, North Carolina on April 24, 1936 to the late A. Nelson Watkins and Nora Mae (nee Hamilton). She departed from this earthly life and went to be with her Heavenly Father on May 15, 2023.
The family moved to Cincinnati, Ohio when Gladys was a young child, and she attended Cincinnati Public Schools. Gladys was a 1954 graduate of the old Woodward High School.
Gladys was joined in holy matrimony to Calvin Peek on October 16, 1954, and to this union five children were born. She was known by her family as “Momma.” She dearly loved her family. She loved to play cards and she loved to cook. Gladys was a dedicated employee of Children’s Hospital for 30 years until her retirement.
Gladys accepted Christ the age of 10 when she joined Revelation Baptist Church. Through her spiritual journey she diligently served on Usher Board, kitchen ministry, as a missionary and on Leading Ladies Ministry. She was under the pastorate of Reverend Sil Watkins, Living Church of God, at the time of her passing. She was preceded in her death by her husband Calvin, her parents A. Nelson and Nora, grandson Maurice Jackson, granddaughter Yolanda Peek, and son-in-law, Urban Jackson.
She left to mourn her passing three sons, Anthony, Michael and Reginald (Daphene); two daughters, Patricia Roach and Carolyn Peek. She also leaves to cherish her memories a sister-in-law Laura Peek, one nephew Kelvin Peek; 27 grandchildren, 56 great grandchildren, 6 great-great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
