Georgetta Davis was born September 25, 1949, in Carlisle, KY, to the late George Albert and Lenora Brown. She was the fourth oldest of five children. John Martin Duncan, Lenora Bush, Kay Francis Brown, and William Albert Brown, all of whom preceded her in death.
Georgetta was raised in Carlisle and was educated in the Kentucky school system. In her late teens she relocated to Cincinnati, Oh in order to remain close to family. It was in Cincinnati, at the age of twenty, that she met her husband of 54 years, Rev. Earnest Davis, Jr. Together, they have five children; George C. Brown, Michael J. Brown, Celeste M. Mackey, Earnest Davis III, and Angela D. Davis. They have 12 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
In addition, there are a host of nieces and nephews who also cherish and celebrate the legacy of this loving and caring woman of God.
Georgetta was a woman of faith. Of all that she experienced during her earthly sojourn, her most treasured possession was her membership in the body of Christ. She loved the Word of God, and sought to make application of it, whether in a time of challenge or a time of celebration.
She looked forward to Sunday School, the bible study as well as the prayer meeting. And when it came to the Sunday morning worship, she definitely was going to celebrate the Lord’s Day! In 1983, along with her husband, she Joined the Galilee Missionary Baptist Church under the direction of Rev. Dr. Allen E. Middleton Sr. Georgetta has been in support of her husband wherever his call to the ministry has taken him. Faithful in attendance until she was no longer able and even then she could be found praying,
Her passion was to see children safe and happy. She loved her children and grandchildren with all her might, but it didn’t have to be her children; she just loved children. It showed up in her meals as well as her mentorship. As a result, there are many that called her Mom.
God blessed “Georgie” with a humble spirit, a loving heart, and a winning smile that served her well during her time on earth. It made it easier the for the message of the gospel to come shining through.
Rest well “GG”, inasmuch as you know that your labor is not in vain.
