Garry Alex Plear, age 59, departed this life on Tuesday, December 27, 2016. He was born into the union of Samuel and Irene Plear on October 2, 1957. At a young age Garry, accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. He allowed his faith in the Lord to guide him day to day.
Garry graduated from Aiken Senior High School and later received a Bachelor of Arts from Central State University. While attending Central State, he was an outgoing member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc. and “The Lodge”. Garry also served in the United States Air Force for several tours of duty. After military service, he continued to serve his country working for two different government agencies.
Garry found joy in learning new things and working with his hands whether it was building model rockets, race cars or collecting trains. As he grew into an adult, his inquisitive nature was translated into designing plaques, etching glass materials, operating new gadgets and working with computers. Garry became an avid bowler, competing in several tournaments and receiving various awards and recognition for the sport. As any one of his friends or acquaintances will tell you, Garry was always good-humored and loved to talk about any and everything. Those who knew him best would not only enjoy a laugh or two but, also gain a well-reasoned opinion from him each time they spoke.
Garry was preceded in death by his father Samuel Plear and leaves to cherish his memory: his mother, Irene Plear; sisters, Monica and Vivian Plear; his nephew Austin Plear (Lattecia), and a host of relatives, friends and colleagues.
