Frank Yates was born on August 12, 1947, in Cincinnati, OH to Lawrence and Helen Yates.
Frank spent most of his years in Cincinnati. As a young boy, Frank attended Washburn Elementary school and Bloom Middle school. Frank spent his younger years with his siblings and friends. He was an avid roller skater and decorated amateur boxer. He loved to swim and swam in the Ohio River in his early years. Frank spent much of his youth with his best friend, Reggie Mangham. The two bonded like brothers from an early age and shared many adventures into late adulthood.
After graduating from Taft High School, he enlisted in the army and served admirably during the Vietnam campaign. After three years of service and an honorable discharge, he spent some years living in Los Angeles, California, before ultimately returning to his hometown. It was here that he accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior by baptism. During his journey in finding the Lord, he attended New Prospect Baptist Church. He was introduced to many amazing people while in Cincinnati, including his caring sister-in-law Cheryl Yates, and one of his most beloved friends, Brenda White.
He loved music, nice cars, and a well-tailored suit. Not a day went by without classic jazz or Motown hits playing in his car or home. He made it an emphasis to never be late to an event, and to always show up in style.
He passed away peacefully in his hometown on August 27, 2023, after a hard-fought battle against cancer.
Frank was preceded in death by his parents Lawrence and Helen Yates, and siblings Lawrence, Mary Helen, and Joyce Yates.
Frank is survived by his sister Carol Yates, his sister-in-law, Cheryl Yates and his children, Mark, Ashlee Davis and Aaron Yates.
