Mother Flora Lee Love (nee Bell) was born to the late Bishop Isaac James Bell and Bertie Bell (nee Luckey) on February 12, 1934 in Cincinnati, Ohio. Mother Love had two siblings, Anna and Isaac James Bell, Jr. (Hank). Isaac Jr. preceded her in death.
Mother Love attended the Lockland Wayne Schools and spent much of her childhood in the Lincoln Heights area. Mother married Roy Lee Love in September 1952. She had a son, Robert Bell at the time of the marriage. She and Roy had five children. Roy L. Love, Sr. departed this life in December 1986. Her child-ren, Robert, Bertie Ann, Derrick and Roy Love, Jr., all preceded Mother Flora Love in death.
Mother Love was a psychiatric nurse’s aide at Longview Hospital. She retired after thirty six (36) years of service. Upon retirement, Mother Love focused on her church life and her relationship with the Lord. She was a member of St. Mark Baptist Church for many years where she was an active choir member and a member of the Women’s Auxiliary. She had been a member of The Revealed Holiness House of God during her childhood along with her parents and in her latter years, she returned to Revealed Holiness House of God under the leadership of her lifelong friend, Rev. Mary Lundy Welch. At Revealed Holiness, Mother Love was a wonderful member who loved calling and checking upon members who were sick or absent for long periods of time. She prayed for them over the phone and encouraged the ones that were able to attend church. She was a very honest and straight forward person.
Carol and Mary (her stepdaughter) talked about the times that Mother Love would gather her children and the neighborhood children to talk to them about the Lord. There were days that the house would be full of kids whom she fed natural and spiritual food. Her name speaks for itself, “Mother Love”. She became a foster mother and raised many children besides her own. She was anxious to get back to church after a long illness, however on April 13, 2014, early in the morning, she attended church among the angels. I can hear her singing…In the morning when I rise, I want to see Jesus.
Mother Love leaves to cherish her memory: her daughter, Carol Love, her son, Artie Love, both of Cincinnati, OH and her stepdaughter, Mary Price of Hamilton, OH; her sister, Anna Curry of Dayton, OH; 22 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren; her dear friends, Beatrice Reid and Mary Lundy Welch; and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Her grandchildren, Jysie Love, Diamond Love, James Hickson and great-grandson, Jeffaun Price preceded her in death.
She will be greatly missed, but God loves her best.
