On October 2, 2024, Evelyn Joyce Walker departed this life to join her Lord and Savior after a well-fought battle with lung cancer and sarcoidosis. Evelyn was born to Sadie Catherine Walker and Charles Edward Ingram on July 20, 1960, in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Evelyn’s vibrant personality was a beacon of light, always illuminating the room with her infectious smile. Her charismatic nature reflected her inner beauty, drawing everyone in with her easygoing spirit. Her perfect comedic timing and quick wit would have you laughing in no time, making her the life of any gathering. She was lighthearted and always ready to lend her positive energy to the environment around her, leaving a lasting impression on everyone she met.
To many, Evelyn was like an aunt, big sister, or just your favorite cousin. She often shared stories from her youth, which held a special place in her heart. She used those stories to bridge the gap between her family’s past and present generations. Evelyn cherished her family and loved spending time with them. It was what made her happiest.
Evelyn was socially dynamic, always enjoying meeting and befriending new people. Her friendly spirit made her a favorite at social events, especially family gatherings. She was a fan of games that blended chance with skill, like cards, and often tried her luck at bingo, enjoying the thrill of winning. Her other hobbies included attending concerts, shopping, decorating her space, and unwinding with a good movie or mellow music. You could always find Evelyn cheering on her beloved Bengals on game days.
In 1978, Evelyn graduated from Western Hills High School and completed a vocational office course that paved the way for her successful career as a medical record analyst. Her journey in the field of medical records is a testament to her commitment and resilience. Starting as a file clerk, she steadily climbed the ladder, becoming a receptionist and finally achieving the role of a medical record analyst in 1985. For the next thirty-two years, Evelyn dedicated herself to Good Samaritan Hospital, one of the oldest and largest private teaching and specialty healthcare institutions in greater Cincinnati. She later transitioned to Sentara Hospital in Williamsburg, Virginia, before retiring in 2023. Evelyn’s professional success is a reminder that passion and dedication can lead to a truly fulfilling career.
Evelyn is preceded in death by her father, Charles Edward Ingram, mother, Sadie Catherine Walker, and sister, Regina Denise Reynolds. Evelyn will be deeply missed by all who know her.
