Ethel Lee Lowry was born on September 6, 1930, in Prattville, Alabama to the late Mr. Burley and Mrs. Laura Durden. Ethel was the youngest of 14 children. Ethel was a faithful member of St. Paul Lutheran Church where she served using her talents as an organist until she became ill. Ethel lived a life full of love and hope. She was blessed to live 92 years. She departed this life on June 30, 2023.
In 1949 Ethel Lowry graduated from Alabama Lutheran Academy in Selma, Alabama. She continued her education by attending and graduating from Callhoun County Training School in 1950. Ethel married the love of her life Robert Lowry Sr. on December 21, 1954, in Lawrenceburg, Indiana. With their union they had four children Elaine Lowry, Robert Lowry Jr, Greg Lowry Sr. and Phyllis Lowry. Robert Lowry Sr. served in the United States Air Force; during his years of service the family had the opportunity to travel and live in multiple cities within the United States. They even had the opportunity to live in Japan, and the Philippines before settling in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Ethel enjoyed loving and caring for her family. She was a great cook and loved to sew. She did an excellent job caring not only her children but also for her family in Alabama. She did not hesitate to take a trip to check on her sister and stayed for weeks.
Ethel is preceded in death by her daughter Elaine Lowry. Elaine was born October 16, 1954. She worked and retired from the City of Cincinnati. Elaine loved her son, Marcus Wright and family. She also had a love for fashion and enjoyed getting her nails painted. Elaine Lowry departed this earthly world on February 3, 2023. Her presence is truly missed.
Ethel L. Lee was blessed to experience a long, good life. Ethel was preceded in death by her loving husband Robert Lowry Sr.; her son the late Greg Lowry Sr. (Linda Lowry), daughter the late Elaine Lowry and all her brothers and sisters. She leaves to cherish her memories her son Robert Lowry Jr. and daughter Phyllis Lowry; seven grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
