Ernest C. Coleman, Jr., was born on September 21, 1949, in Cincinnati, Ohio to the late Ernest C. Coleman, Sr. and Mary Ann (White) Coleman. He was affectionately known as Skip to family and friends. Skip departed from this earth on December 19, 2024.
He accepted Christ at a young age, in the early 1960s, at Zion Baptist Church. Skip grew up in Walnut Hills and at an early age athletics became a meaningful part of his growth and development. Throughout school he excelled in various sports including baseball, football and basketball. He attended Withrow High School and was a proud life long Tiger.
After high school, Skip joined the navy and served from December 1968 – December 1972. Skip was a Flight Director on the U.S.S. Constellation. Upon returning home, he was employed as a Fireman at General Electric Corporation and then a Maintenance Engineer working for the Blue Ash Embassy Suites.
Skip enjoyed various sports live and on TV, as well as watching westerns and listening to jazz music. One of his favorite musical groups was Earth, Wind and Fire, which he was able to recently attend their concert this past summer. To know Skip was to love him. Skip never knew a stranger and he was truly the life of the party!
Skip is survived by his four children, Todd Coleman (Kelly), Jasmine Hughes (Brandon), Aaron Johnson (Clairessa) and Alexis Coleman, granddaughters, Veda Coleman and Aaria, grandsons Aaron Jr., Aamir, and Braxton; and one brother, Gary Coleman. He also leaves an uncle, Kenneth White, Sr., two aunts, Vanessa White, Sybyl White (Jimmy Denson, Sr.), one nephew, Brian Coleman and a host of cousins, family and friends.
