On Monday, August 18, 2025, our beloved Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, and Friend, peacefully transitioned from her earthly labor for her eternal reward at the blessed age of 90.
Elizabeth Lovell Johnson Caulton was born on August 31, 1934, in Smyrna, Georgia, to the late Henry and Christine Munford. She was the youngest of 2 children and grew into her strength and resilience on her own. She carried herself with courage and independence throughout her whole life.
Eliz was a proud graduate of Woodward High School. She later pursued training as a STNA, a career that allowed her to serve and comfort others for more than 25 years at Mercy Franciscan. She was respected by her colleagues and adored by patients for her gentle spirit and tireless compassion.
Eliz joined St. Joseph Catholic Church, where she faithfully served for many years and was an active member of the Choir. She also was a proud honorary member of the Eastern Star.
Family meant everything to her. She was the matriarch, the keeper of traditions, and the storyteller whose pictures reminded us of where we came from. She spent her life uplifting others, whether through prayer, a home-cooked meal, or a kind word of encouragement.
Eliz was preceded by death by her parents, husband (Gerardo Villalba), and sibling. She leaves to cherish her memory; 4 children—James Jay Johnson Jr., Tawanda Johnson, Robin Johnson and Kecia Thomas along with 7 grandchildren, a host of great-grandchildren, and countless others who were blessed by her presence. She will be deeply missed, but her love and faith will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. Everyone she touched saw her beauty and magical ways.
