Lillian (Eleanor) Wilson, a beloved resident of Cincinnati for over seven decades, peacefully passed away on December 14th, 2023, at Cottingham Retirement Home. She was born in Cross Anchor, South Carolina to her parents Blueford Wilson and Ella Mae Wilson. Her life was a testament to resilience, dedication, and warmth.
In the late 1940s, Eleanor Wilson made her way to Cincinnati, where she sewed her own vibrant story of life. In 1948, she gave birth to her only child Beverly, a lifelong supporter and close friend. Eleanor led a fulfilling career as a seamstress at Kichler’s Drapery Co., leaving an indelible mark with her skill for the stitch until her well-deserved retirement.
Education was a cornerstone of Eleanor’s life. Dedicated to learning and imparting knowledge, Eleanor had a fervent aspiration to become a teacher, completing her high school studies at Sims High School (SC) and pursuing two additional years of higher education at Paine College in Georgia. Returning to South Carolina briefly, Elanor taught grade school at the Cross Anchor School House.
She was a cherished sister among five siblings—Laura, Freddie, John, James, and Eleanor, the youngest, whom she loved and supported throughout their lives. Eleanor left behind one daughter (Beverly), two grandchildren (Marc & David) and several great grandchildren.
In life’s journey, Eleanor found companionship, enduring memories, and shared her closest moments in a long-time relationship with Mr. Percy White.
Her legacy is woven into the fabric of her family, friends, and community. Eleanor’s kindness, grace, and unwavering spirit will forever be cherished and remembered by all who knew her.
