Edward L. Hawkins was born May 11, 1936 to John M. and Virginia Louise Hawkins in Tuscumbia, Alabama.
He was the third of four children. He is preceded in death by his sister, Martha Louise Johnson, his brother, John Willie Hawkins, his ex-wife, Ruby L. Hawkins, his son Michael Edward Hawkins and wife, Bessie Hawkins.
Edward is survived by his sister, Mary Francis Haley, ex-wife Elma Hawkins, three sons, Yogi, Kevin and Matthew Hawkins and three grandchildren, Brianna, Matthew and Michael Hawkins and numerous nieces and nephews.
Edward attended Trenholm High School where he was in track and football. He went on to Alabama State University where he graduated and went on to be a teacher and then a principal in Cincinnati, Ohio. He had a love for bowling and golfing. He also loved to officiate and referee basketball and football games. He was a proud member of the Masons.
Edward retired at the age of 53 and spent his time playing golf and traveling, taking numerous cruises with his wife Bessie. He also loved playing the lottery and going to the casinos.
