Dwight A. Staples, “lovingly known as Papa: was born November 21, 1950 in Cincinnati, Ohio to the late Leroy Staples, Jr. (Anna) and Jean E. Daniel (Robert). Dwight was the eldest of four brothers, Dennis Staples, Darryl A. Staples, Leroy Staples III (Kandi) and Robert D. Daniel (Naima) and sister Dionne Thorpe (David).
Dwight took his first communion in 1955 at Saint Henry Church of Cincinnati, Ohio where he was an altar boy. He attended Aiken High School in College Hill and graduated in 1968. Dwight worked for General Electric in Evendale, Ohio in the Aircraft Division where he retired after 32 years. Dwight was an avid sportsman and enjoyed life to the fullest. He enjoyed traveling, playing tennis, racquetball and golf.
Dwight met the love of his life, Billie Jean, at Frickers and on May 11, 2016 he made her his wife. Dwight loved cheering on the Cincinnati Bengals and he and Billie watched the games every chance they got. Driving sports cars and listening to music were his favorite pastime and he had a love for art, but there was nothing he loved more than spending time with family and loved ones.
Dwight was preceded in death by his mother Jean, his father Leroy and his sister Annette Jeanine Daniel.
Dwight is survived by his devoted wife, Billie Jean; three children, Dwana Marie, Daniel Joseph and Taylor Olivia Staples; his step children, Michael Reco Whitson (Della) and Melissa Smith; his brothers and sister; his grandchildren Michael, Mondale, Demyia, DeShanna, Lavelle, William and Diane Whitson; Rylee and Daron Smith; Durriyyah Guerrero (Luis); Atallah Jackson; Ruby, Willow and August Staples; his great-grands, Dhani , Luis , Demi-Jean and Ava Guerrero; and a great host of cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
