I was born in Cincinnati, Ohio at the Jewish Hospital on November 27, 1952, to my beloved parents, Russel Harrison and Lucy Ann Ballew of Loveland, Ohio. Affectionately known as Roger, I was the baby brother of Wallace Clark, Patricia Diane, and Joyce Camilla.
I was a busy and energetic toddler, loving farm life and people. However, prior to my first birthday, I came into contact with and ingested insecticide poison which ultimately changed my life forever. Facing the diagnosis, my parents strived to fill my life with available opportunities. Mama enrolled me in Warren County Center for the Developmentally Disabled. I was assigned to be an assistant on a maintenance work crew at rest stops on Interstate 71. I loved my job where my skills and training excelled.
In 1990, my life changed with the sudden death of my mother and 10 months later, the passing of my father. God permitted loving and gracious hands of my first cousin, Marjorie Gillespie, to reach into my life and guide me into the next phase of my life as a young adult. Marjorie, her friend, Crystal Bossard, and my sister, Patricia collaborated to lovingly nudge me further. I went on to Hamilton County Services for the developmentally disabled where I flourished. The Living Assistance for the Developmentally Disabled was a God send. I grew up to be a man and a gift to others.
Roger leaves to mourn his passing and cherish his memory, his sister Patricia Mitchell, his beloved nephew Terrence Andre McCuin of Las Vegas, NE and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and relatives. He also leaves to mourn his loss his many alumni from the LADD Family in Cincinnati.
Roger, we all loved you, but God loved you best; and just because we knew you, we will never be the same again. We are forever grateful that God permitted you to be a part of our lives here on earth.
