Dorothy (nee Patterson) Smith was born in Macon, Georgia on July 2, 1921. She was the only child born to the late Beactrice Patterson and Wayman J. Stroud. She departed this life on Sunday, October 19, 2014 at Jewish Kenwood Hospital.
Dorothy came to Cincinnati at an early age. She confessed hope in Jesus Christ and was baptized at the New Hope Baptist Church in 1942 by the late Reverend J.M. Stephens. She remained a faithful member til her health started to decline.
She was joined in Holy Matrimony to Joseph S. Smith, Sr. on the 13th of January, 1942. He preceded her in death in 1988. To this blessed union was born one son, the late Joseph Smith, Jr. and a daughter, Barbara.
She leaves to cherish fond memories: a loving and devoted daughter, Barbara Hall; five loving grandchildren, Eric (Karen), Jamaal and Nea Hall, Bryon (Lisa) and Damon (Victoria) Smith; one son-in-law, Larry Hall; and a loving daughter-in-law, Jan Palmer (Carl) of Roanoke, Virginia; nine great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
