Taft HS in all its glory of what was, you made a better place. The jokes the compassion and the patience with us troubled teens, you kept giving us chances to do better with suspension. Thank you. Rest well Mr. Edwards

I can remember Mr. Edwards as far back as Sawyer Jr. High. He was such a good model for the guys because just like now, they really needed that positive black male figure in their lives. His heart was really in the education for our children. The school system has really lost a good one. My Prayers to the family because I know there is a big void in your family with him being gone. Gone but not forgotten :skin-tone-4: Angie Brooks

Dixon and i worked for Cincinnati public schools. We were also members of the magnificents couples club for many years. We will miss his sense of humor. He was a true gentleman.
Phyllis Williams left a message on May 29, 2020:
My relationship with Dixon primarily resulted from our working as administrators in Cincinnati Public Schools. This was during a time when we were committed to serving as advocates for monitoring the national and local practices needed for desegregation of schools, and the tendency to perpetuate the disparity of education between white and black students starting at the national level. He was a warrior for justice and equality and inspired both students and teachers. Phyllis J. Williams, CPS Retired Elementary School Principal

We played ball at Morgantown High School and I encouraged the Marshall University football staff to offer the full athletic scholarship he used to get his under graduate degree. Many times we shared rides to and from our homes in Dellslow and White Ave. during our four years at Marshall.University. I recall also shared packed lunches on return trips eating all the food before we got to Parkersburg. . Our dads became friends while attending games at Fairfield Stadium in Huntington, I will forever be grateful for his comments introducing me to our Morgantown H.S. Athletic Hall of Fame,September 2019. The mark he made as an athlete, man, father, friend makes all who knew him proud . May he rest in richly deserved peace. Alpha, :Cowboy", Mayfield

We wish to share our Condolences to the Edwards family. One the greatest person I have ever known. I had the pleasure to have met Dixon in the Fifties with his friend Clem over at Ed's barber shop in Evanston and we became good friends. When you think of a great man Bro. Dixon was him. He will truly be missed. His Father gave him the call and he answered. He is now in a much better place. We all will miss him. He made the Cincinnati School District a better place for our Children. Rest in Peace Bro Dixon. John and Dr. Florence Newell

Joanne Stenson-Sawyer left a message on May 28, 2020:
Mr. Edwards, was a father figure to many and a mentor to us all. He is the true definition of being about it and not talking about it. His actions, caring and true love for mankind is heroic. He had the gift to see us (his Withrow students) for who we could be and not what we were. My Edwards was instrumental in educating and mentoring 9 siblings and several nieces and nephews in my family (Stenson Family) from the 70's to the 90's. He knew all students by name and their parents. You won’t find a statue about him or even a plaque but what you will see is his teaching in all of us that will always live on. His contributions to mankind is worthy of the Nobel Peace Prize. Interesting enough, he never appeared to crave approval, attention or accolades. He lead with his heart and left a footprint in us all, as a foundation to stand on. A lesson that I learned from him and will continue for all of my days. To his family, Thank you for sharing him with us for so many years. My condolence to the family, Mr. Edwards will always be remembered and live on in all of us. Rest in Heaven Mr. Edwards…..I know you will here Job Well Done My Good & Faithful Servant
