I remember as kids when we all gathered at Big Mama's House for Thanksgiving Dinner, Uncle Dickie was always the disciplinarian to keep all the grandchildren in order. He would make us sit down all together in the same room (family room). If your were one who was disobedient you were really in big trouble. This is my best memory as he always gave me a break. He always told me I had to be the strong one in the family since I was a good kid. Occasionally, he would have me babysit his children (my cousins) when they were small. God Bless our family for these are some challenging times as our loved ones transition into heaven. LOVE, Valorie Jones,

Big Dickie nicknamed all the kids in the family, every baby who heard his voice and looked into his eyes, cracked the biggest smile. He would talk to them for hours. When my son was small he wore a small knit cap at the top of his head. It earned him a stellar name, (conehead) the older kids mimicked Big Dickie, and 37 years later I don't think many people know my sons real name . He is truly missed by all for his laughter and great words of wisdom.

He was Mr.Green to me. He helped me out more than people will ever know. i became a better man because of meeting him. one thing i liked about him, was that he had a nick name for all his grand kids. He was a Classy, no nonsense , and down to earth guy. My prayers go out to his family.

Big Dickie welcomed me into his family in 1997, he has shown and expressed nothing but love to me and my son. When ever there were family gathering or we would just stop by that is all I ever seen with him was the love he had for his family and how proud he was of them. Any problem u ever had and u spoke with big dickie about it, u walked away with a little bit more wisdom than u came to him with and also feeling more calm and knowing u were gonna do the right thing. I grew to love that man so much. God did not make to many guys like this man. He will be missed but he left a little bit of himself in everyone loved and cared about, so hold on that and his memories and know that he will always be with us. Love u Big Dickie rest peacefully as u so well deserve. U will be missed. Kelley green
