Derrick was an inspiration to me so many times. He always had a way of making me feel better about my struggles. Despite all his struggles he always had a big smile & that guy could quote & come up with a Bible verse for any situation. He had a way of making you know that you were always loved by God, no matter what you were going through. I will miss him terribly & as I watch our Buckeyes today, I know he’s probably watching too with our Jesus❣️ And he’s jumping up & down either with ease! Love you buddy❤️🙏

It’s been a pleasure to have met you! Seeing you at church was so amazing and you had such an amazing soul, very kind and loving! Your smile always brought a smile to my face when I felt weak and tired and sad and or even angry, it truly was an honor to have met you and hear your story! Lord Jesus I pray that he is forgiven for all of his sins and that he gets to finally enjoy eternity with you our Father in his glorified body free of pain and sadness! Derek made a difference in my life and in our Celebrate Recovery family. What I will remember most about him was his unwavering faith in Jesus. He truly believed in the saving and transforming power of Christ, and he wasn’t afraid to remind us that when we surrender our lives to Jesus, there is always hope.
Even though Derek faced challenges, he faithfully showed up. His circumstances never seemed to diminish his faith. In fact, seeing him there week after week, believing so strongly in God’s goodness and encouraging others to trust in Jesus, was a testimony in itself.
I especially want Derek’s son and family to know that his life mattered. His presence mattered. His words mattered. He planted seeds of faith and hope in people, including me, and those seeds will continue long after his passing.
I am grateful that God allowed our paths to cross. Derek will be missed, but the faith he shared and the difference he made will not be forgotten. I believe the Jesus Derek trusted so completely has now welcomed him home.
