Delores Creed passed away on September 15, 2023, at the age of 87. She was born on July 25, 1936, in Cincinnati, Ohio, to William Gaither and Marian Turnbow.
Delores’s passion for cooking and exploring new places was something she enjoyed. Her adventurous spirit extended beyond the kitchen, as she delighted in traveling to new destinations, soaking in the beauty and culture of different regions.
After graduating from Courter Tech High School, Delores pursued a career in nursing, a field in which she made a tremendous impact. She dedicated her professional life to caring for others, bringing comfort and healing to those in need. For many years, Delores served the community selflessly at the renowned UC Medical Center, where her compassion touched countless lives.
A woman of deep faith, Delores was a devoted worshipper at both Lee Chapel AME Church and Allen Temple AME Church until her health wouldn’t allow her. Through her spiritual devotion and involvement in church activities, she formed lasting friendships and found solace in the embrace of her faith community.
Delores experienced the joys and sorrows of love throughout her lifetime. She was married to John Smith, and later John Creed, who all have preceded her in death. In addition to her husbands, Delores was preceded in death by her three children, John Arthur Smith, Rachelle Denise Smith, and Michael Anthony Smith, as well as her brother, Arlow Gaither.
Though Delores experienced unthinkable loss, she held on to the love and memories shared with her cherished family. She is survived by her sister and her grandchildren: Kevin Smith, Marcus Smith, Michael Porter, Sonya Martin, Charles Martin, Marian Martin, and Elizabeth Martin. Delores also leaves behind a host of great-grandchildren, each blessed to have been a part of her life.
