Deborah was born to the late Theodore and Rebecca Howard on October 12, 1948, in Cincinnati, OH. She was baptized at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Woodlawn and later became a member of Lincoln Heights Missionary Baptist. She graduated from Hughes High School in 1966.
Deborah Anne was fabulous. Can you imagine the mansion Jesus has prepared for her? There will be a pot of greens on the stove, sliced tomatoes and onion, and an ice-cold glass of Coca-Cola in the mix. Deborah loved her greens. She always had some cooking, being picked, or stored in the freezer… you know, just in case y’all get hungry. Deborah was loving, friendly, and outgoing. She’s never met a stranger. She loved cooking and trying new recipes, traveling, shopping, and especially, spending time with her family.
Deborah meant so much to so many. She always offered encouraging words, sage advice, or a shoulder to cry on. She would strike up a conversation and laugh with anyone. You could be at Meijer with her and see her talking and laughing with someone. When asked who it was, she’d say “oh we just met while I was standing here shucking this corn. Now come on, let’s go over here and look at these greens.”
She loved, loved, loved to shop. Almost every week, the living room was filled with Macy’s deliveries for any and everybody.
Deborah touched many lives and shared a special connection with those who knew her. She listened, encouraged, soothed, hugged, advised, laughed, and loved. Though we grieve her loss, she wouldn’t want us to be sad. She’d say: until we meet again, soldier on and remember:
Hebrews 13:14 NLT: For this world is not our permanent home; we are looking forward to a home yet to come.
John 16:22 NLT: So you have sorrow now, but I will see you again, then you will rejoice, and no one can rob you of that joy.
Psalm 49:15: But as for me, God will redeem my life. He will snatch me from the power of the grave.
And as Jesus assured, in Luke 23:43, I am with Him in paradise.
