David Lee Strum was born January 20, 1941 in Union Springs, Alabama from the union of Mack A. Strum (Addie Mae) and Georgia Neal (Sam). He was the eldest of 10 kids. Nadine Jones (Charles Jones, deceased), Barbara Strum, Ethel Mae Strum, Arleen Strum, Ophelia S. Briggins, Yadah Yah Yisrael (Mack A. Strum Jr), Gracie Williams (Alfred), Nathaniel Watkins (Marie), preceding him in death Clara P Lewis.
David graduated from William Howard Spencer High School in Columbus, GA in 1962. October 29, 1963 he joined the United States Army, where he proudly served for 4 years.
In 1973 David Lee Strum married the love of his life, Betty (Thorpe) Strum. From this union they had one daughter, Zenith Strum. The youngest of 6, with 5 older brothers Donald Kidd (Apra), Melvin Kidd, Steven Kidd (Deanna), Kelvin Kidd (Sandra), and Ben Kidd.
David loved to fish, watch westerns, and listen to music. Most of all he loved to watch his Bengals. A die hard fan, through all their losses. He was a kind man of few words. When he did speak, we all listened. David retired from the Cincinnati Public School District, where he was a Supervisor. He was a hard worker that cared for his family and loved his wife.
He leaves a legacy of 19 loving grandchildren Yasmeen Kidd, Dejah Kidd, Desiree Kidd, Michael Kidd, Markita Golden Williams, Dontea Kidd (deceased), Ciara Richardson, Curtis CJ Golden, Donald Kidd Jr., Arriauna Kidd, Adrian Strum, Seth Golden, Aaron Greer, Andrew Smith, Sagittarius Lamar, Alexia Golden, Angel Kidd, Zarius Lamar, and Kingston St. Clair. Also a host of great grandchildren, family, and friends to cherish his memory.
