Cynthia Dianne McGinnis, a remarkable wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, has bid us a fond farewell and embarked on her final journey. She passed away peacefully on July, 30, 2023, enveloped by the love of her family. Cynthia’s indomitable spirit and legacy of love continue to shine brightly through the lives she touched.
Survived by her devoted husband, Joseph N. McGinnis, Jr., Cynthia leaves behind a tapestry of memories woven with care and affection. Her son Joseph N. McGinnis III, daughters Jalonda Hill and Janel Taylor, and a multitude of grandchildren, including Sedan Scott, Zion Reynolds, Sterling Hill, Chandler McGinnis, Sanii Reynolds, Joseph McGinnis IV, Skyler Hill, Finee Reynolds, Bailey McGinnis, Nori Taylor, Nova Taylor, and great-grandchildren S’Moni Scott, and Kylo Cartier, will forever cherish her profound impact.
Born to Mildred and Joe Jones, Cynthia spent her formative years in Ecorse, MI. In addition to her loving husband, Cynthia is survived by her siblings Annette Warr, Carlton Jones, Donald Jones, and Shelia Parris. She was preceded in death by her brothers Frederick and William Jones.
Cynthia’s zest for life was evident in her culinary creations that delighted family and friends, a testament to her love and care. As an esteemed member of The Red Hat Club, she relished the camaraderie and cherished moments shared with her fellow members. Penuckle nights were filled with laughter and friendly competition, reflecting Cynthia’s joyful spirit. She dedicated her time at the Senior Center, selflessly teaching the art of quilting, leaving a legacy of warmth and creativity in every stitch.
After a fulfilling career, Cynthia retired from American Airlines and Delta Airlines, leaving behind a legacy of dedication and professionalism that inspired her colleagues.
As we bid farewell to Cynthia Dianne McGinnis, let us remember her for the love, laughter, and warmth she shared with all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her memory will forever be etched in our hearts, and her legacy will live on through the stories we tell and the love we continue to share.

Janel thank you for being one of my best childhood friends to where I had the pleasure to know your mom and have many fond memories of her. I will never forget the day we moved up the street and had unlimited times and moments hanging out at the house aka the barn. I remember her pasta salad, gumbo(I was scared to eat because of the crab legs) and her hosting parties and family reunions. The many nights we spent over there watching her and your dad get ready to leave for an evening out before we had our fun were always wonderful times and great memories. She always had an award winning smile. One memory I often remember was one night her and your dad were going out for the evening and she asked us to paint her nails. She asked you first and you said you couldn't keep your hand steady then she asked me. I tried my best and she looked at her nails and said I thought yall knew how to paint nails...where is Jalonda! She always told it like it was and never sugar coated anything and I loved that about her. She was always upfront and honest. When we stopped keeping in touch, your mom never stopped checking on me. I always kept up with you through her. She always stopped up the street on her many walks with your babies, and it seemed to always be when I am in town visiting my parents. I always spent time chatting with her about you and catching up on the family. We always hugged and said our goodbyes then she would walk down the street. When I visit home the barn will never be the same. I will never forget Mrs. McGinnis and all the wonderful memories of her. She will be missed. My prayers of strength and comfort to you, Mr. McGinnis, Joey and Jalonda.
