While the passing of a human soul is a serious, life changing event often rife with turmoil, confusion, and regret among those left behind; it is also a time to celebrate the life of an individual who touched so many in profound and lasting ways.
Conchita Maria Hill, aka “Chita” was born in 1933 to Valentina & James “AJ” Williams in Youngstown, Ohio and passed September 17, 2025.
“Chita” is survived by her 5 children – John Anthony III “Tony”, Robert Scott “Bobby”, Perry Jay, Valentina Jude (Greg Warner) & Gina Maria; her 5 grandchildren – Zachary & Alexandra – Son & Daughter of Robert & Rebecca “Becky”, Alyssa & Marissa – Daughters of Perry & Amy & Jeff Jr son of Jeff Dillon and Gina; and 3 sisters, Coralia, Constancia & Carmelita, numerous nieces, nephews, friends, in-laws, plant babies, etc
By all definitions, rumors, gossip, conspiracies, hearsay, scuttle from those who knew her well, and of course, the enigmatic clergy, “Chita” was certifiably insane.
“Chita” endured an aneurysm in the 70’s, a grand mal seizure, five children, a crotchety and dedicated husband, and tumultuous events like the Great Depression, World War II, Viet Nam, the Civil Rights Movement, Rock n’ Roll, disco, The Big 80’s, the fall of O.J., 9/11, and nine Popes, what else could she be.
A lot…Actually
“Chita” was a retired Medical Technologist and Blood Bank Supervisor at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital, in Youngstown and at Case Western Hospital, in Cleveland, Ohio.
She was an active volunteer throughout her life and dedicated herself fully to her husband, children, and the Holy Roman Catholic Church.
She volunteered at St. Vincent Ferrer School and church where four of her children attended. There she served as a Homeroom Mother, Sex & Sexuality class tutor, Eucharist and Confirmation tutor, Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) Education Commission member & Teacher’s Aide.
When her sons attended Moeller High School, she participated in the Booster Club while being active in the PTO. She worked as a cafeteria mom at Mount Notre Dame High School where her two daughters attended.
She was a participant in the Pastoral Council, a Eucharistic Minister, and a member of the Building Fund Commission at St. John Neumann Church in Nashua, NH.
“Chita” involved herself in the political world as a volunteer for long time friend Marian Spencer’s Mayoral campaign. While in Nashua, she volunteered for Dick Swett’s campaign for Congress.
After several near death experiences that would have taken most, “Chita” seemed to have one foot firmly planted among the living and the other perhaps amongst celestial beings? Or maybe a belligerent angel sent back, like Gandalf, at the turn of the tide to make sure her kids were right.
“Chita” was One of those types, clever and patient enough to finish an entire New York Times crossword puzzle and crave more.
“Chita” was kind, generous, fearless, and enigmatic as hell; the kind of woman whose charismatic advocacy and unrelenting, twisted optimism made her children believe they could soar.
She will always be remembered for her dedication to family, her artistic skills, irreverent sense of humor and ability to comfort, and heal others.
Chita viewed her biggest accomplishment as having raised 5 children who are all “way cool” adults!
Rest in peace Chita. Your heart is held high like a flower in the sun before the Glory of God.
