Clyde Brown, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, passed away peacefully on September 9, 2026, surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with illness. Born on August 23, 1950, in Steubenville, OH, Clyde was the beloved son of Jesse and Mary Lee Brown. He was predeceased by his parents and his brother, Jesse Brown, Jr. His legacy of love and strength is carried on by his devoted wife of 53 years, Sandy; their children, Jennifer (Adrian), Michelle, Nicole (Anthony), and Adrienne; and his cherished granddaughters, Nyla and Avery. Clyde is also survived by his loving brother, Kevin.
Clyde’s life was marked by his unwavering dedication to his family and his church. He married the love of his life, Sandy, on September 25,1972, in their hometown of Steubenville. Together, they built a life filled with laughter, love, and shared adventures while raising their four children.
After graduating from Steubenville High School, Clyde proudly served his country in the U.S. Army from 1969 to 1972. During his military service, he was deployed to Vietnam, where he served as a trainer of German Shepherds, a role he held with great pride and dedication. Following his military service, Clyde embarked on a fulfilling 30-year career as a Steel Mill Technician at Union Electric Steel, where he worked with diligence and integrity until his retirement in 2008.
Clyde was a man of deep faith and commitment to his family. For over 40 years, he was an active member of Greater Zion Temple Church, where he served as a Treasurer, Deacon, and Minister. His devotion to his faith was evident in his willingness to pray for and with anyone in need, and his kindness and generosity left an indelible mark on all who knew him.
An avid fisherman, Clyde found great joy and peace in fishing at Tappan Lake, Clendening Lake, and Lake Erie. His love for the great outdoors was only matched by his love for those around him. Clyde was known for his welcoming spirit, making everyone feel at home in his presence, and his genuine kindness touched the lives of many.
A celebration of Clyde’s life will be held on September 16, 2026, at 1:00 PM at Thompson, Jordan and Hall Funeral Home, located at 11400 Winton Rd, Cincinnati, OH 45240. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to a charity of your choice, honoring Clyde’s generous spirit and his desire to help others.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the doctors and nursing staff at Cincinnati VA Medical Center, along with the nurse aides, and occupational and physical therapists, for their compassionate and dedicated care.
Clyde will be dearly missed but fondly remembered by all who were blessed to know him. His legacy of love, faith, and kindness will continue to inspire and comfort those who hold him in their hearts.
