Clarence Ezekiel Roberson was born to the union of Evie Eva Olamae and John Franklin Roberson on February 14, 1937, in Landrum, South Carolina. Clarence was preceded in death by his parents and his son Clarence Earl. God in his infinite wisdom eased the pain and suffering of my beloved husband and on July 5, 2024, he earned his eternal wings.
Clarence received Christ at an early age. Clarence, better known as “Zeke” moved to Cincinnati with his family at the age of 15 in 1952. He met the Love of his life Joyce Elaine Simpson in 1956 and to that union there were 9 children: Michael Reco, Carlos Duane, Carmen Elaine, Cheryl Denise, Eva Michelle, Regina Ann, Clearance Earl, Tyrone Christopher, and Kareda DeeAnn. Once settled in Cincinnati, he joined Zion Hill Baptist Church in 1958, with his family and later was ordained as a Deacon in April of 1972 and was the Senior Deacon where he remained faithful until his God called him home. Zeke’s 1st job at 15 was a landscaping job at Joe Long Landscaping in Blue Ash, OH. He then went on to do Local and long-distance hauling while working with his older brother John Roberson for his tire company. After his brother moved to California in 1957, he struck out on his own and became one of the First Tire Men in the business when he established Roberson’s Tires. Opening 3 tires shops – 1st in the East End on Eastern Ave. in 1957, 2nd in N. Fairmount on Cummins St, and the 3rd in Walnut Hills at the Corner of Gilbert and Mellish. After the 3rd store burned down in 1977, he turned, his focus to wholesaling tires, establishing Roberson Wholesale Casings & Tires and became known as “Zeke The Tire Man.”
Family, Faith, Cars, and Motorcycles are some of the things Zeke cherished and enjoyed the most. He was a devoted husband of 67 years and an Amazing Dad. There wasn’t anything that he wouldn’t do for his family. His caring nature and the true nurturer that he was would not allow him to let anyone be without. Zeke had a profound love for cars, motorcycles, and of course tires. So much so that he had a personal relationship with many dealerships throughout the city and would go by to have a cup of coffee just to talk about the new wheels on the lot or what has changed with cars from “back in the day.” Zeke would switch his cars often because that is just what he liked to do and would enjoy cruises on motorcycles. Spending time with family were some of his best times spent.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his wife of 67 years, Joyce E. Roberson. 8 children: Michael (Rhonda), Carlos, Carmen, Cheryl (James), Eva, Regina (Anthony), Tyrone, and Kareda all of Cincinnati, Ohio. 1 sister, Pauline Roberson. 5 generations that include a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, family, and friends.
