Clarence B. White Sr. was born August 29, 1936 in McClellanville, S. Carolina to the union of Primus White Sr. and Lucinda White who preceded him in death.
He was the youngest of seven, who also preceded him in death, Leroy, Primus Jr., Mildred, Alonzo, Julian, and Walton. Known as “Red” to his family down South, “Uncle Clarence”, “Papa”, and “Pops”, Clarence transitioned from life on November 23. 2023.
He played basketball at Lincoln High School and claims that he “invented the Sky Hook long before Kareem”. Shortly after graduating, he moved from S. Carolina to Cincinnati, Ohio to join his brother Walt and in 1958 he met the love of his life, Lenester “Lynn” Rone.
Clarence and Lynn, who he referred to as “Nep”, married on January 29, 1965 and began a 44 year marriage and raised two children, Avis Marie and Clarence Jr. He was dedicated to taking care of his family as a devoted Husband and Father. He was also considered a mentor and father figure to many others because of his valued advice and caring nature. Two of his favorite quotes were, “If you have to shovel sh!t against the tide, be the best” and “Don’t let people control your mind”.
He wore many hats throughout his life, he was an owner/manager of a record store and convenience store, insurance salesman, semi-truck dockman and entrepreneur. He was a very popular DJ for parties and night clubs across the city which prompted his desire to own his own night clubs called “L & K Lounge” located in Hamilton, Ohio and “Mid Ages” in Roselawn, Ohio. He also became a school bus driver and found passion for driving and travel. He drove tour buses across the country and various small trips for churches. He proudly retired as a bus driver.
In the 1970s, he gave his life to Christ and joined Second Baptist Church. He was a member of the Helping Hand Club and was a key member in the building of the new church. He was also a dedicated volunteer to mentoring the youth at the juvenile detention center. He received certificate of award for his dedication and services. He enjoyed spending time reading from his Bible, watching Andy Griffith, MSNBC, 007, Westerns, and the occasional Looney Tunes cartoons. His favorite pass time was chilling on his porch with a cold beer and spending time with his family.
Preceded in death by his is wife, Lenester Rone White, Papa leaves to cherish his memory their children Avis M. White and Clarence B. White Jr. (Teresa), Grandchildren: Kyle Ramsdell, Kalib White, Kaliyah White, Kavante White, Dewayne Carter, Tiahna Hamilton, and Ti’enne Hamilton. Great Grandchildren: Aaliyah, Ryan, Bobby, and Ahmar. Father to Clement Blake (Barbara) and grandfather to Aasha and Trevor, he will be missed by many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
