Clarence Ardell Goode was born February 26, 1950, to Junius and Amaza Goode of Severn, North Carolina. The family moved from North Carolina in the late 60s to Cincinnati Ohio. Clarence attended Shield Elementary School, moving on to Heinold Junior High School where he furthered his education at Hughes High School, however in the late 60s and 70s, the world begin to change.
The Civil Rights movement and the Vietnam war began to change the country. Clarence’s older brother Kenny joined the Marines in 1967 and was wounded during the Vietnam War. Clarence decided at that moment that he was going to take a stand and join the United States Marines Corps same branch as his older brother Kenneth. Clarence wanted to fight for our country as well as he wanted to defend his brother’s honor. At the end of his tour which ended in 1972.
Clarence continued to work odd jobs however he found his passion, and that was working on cars he would work on cars all the time. Whatever had wheels or an engine he would work on them till they ran perfectly. Clarence also joined Rockdale Baptist church under the leadership of Stanford L.Vinson where he joined the church youth baseball team in his younger years. Clarence was a dapper dresser; he wore his wing tip collars shirts, and always looked sharp and always wore his applejack hats. He loved to stay fly, as he would often say, and could eat White Castles by the dozen, devour Camp Washington and Skyline Chili and Vienna sausages by the handful. Clarence sense of humor was a jokester as well. He had a warm sense of humor however he was an introvert but lovable. His love blossomed into an undeniable love from the birth of his daughter Starr in 1989 and the birth of his son Tony in his early teenage years.
He was preceded in death by his loving mother Amaza, father Junius, his youngest brother Bruce, and his oldest brother Kenneth. He was truly loved by so many.
Clarence leaves to treasure his memory, his daughter Starr Kershaw (Goode) and his son Tony; youngest sister, Pamela Ford, and sister Jacqueline Yvonne Floyd (Larry); his uncles, aunts, and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews, family and friends.
