Our father, Charles W. Hogan lived a blessed life for 92 years. He was born in Richmond, Kentucky, and accepted Christ through baptism at an early age. He graduated from Madison County High School and joined the United States Navy. After serving his country with honors, he began a career with the US Postal Service where he retired after 30 years.
Dad was a man that lived his life on his own terms. He was a king man who gave to many charitable organizations, including his church. He loved to fish and taught us that you catch fish early or late, and quietly. He used to say that we kids talked too much, and the fish could hear. He loved football, especially his Cincinnati Bengals. He took the children to several games and was a season pass holder for years. He is the reason for our love of the game. He enjoyed listening to and attending jazz concerts. His favorite artists were Grover Washington and George Howard. Gardening was also very important to him. It soothed his soul. He produced good tomatoes, beautiful flowers, and other vegetables that he used to cook with. Dad also had an uncanny ability to fix TVs and other electrical devices, many times without manuals. We used to watch him take TVs apart and put them back together again. In the end, he fought a good fight and won in the game of life.
He is the son of Charity and Charles B. Hogan. He was married to Gladys Twine. He is the father of Cynthia Edwards, Keith Hogan, and Kenneth Hogan; grandfather of KC Hogan, Jeremy Bolden, Erika Hannibal, Ashley Battle, Kareem Dirksen, and Tyrone Hogan; great-grandfather to 15 great-grandchildren, and great great grandfather to 1. He also leaves to celebrate, a nephew, Wendell Pete, and niece, Collette Pete Smith, Scott Singleton, a very special friend, Lucille McClure, and a host of other relatives and friends.
