My dear Cousin, Charles was like a brother to me. As a matter of fact I often called him "Brother" rather than his given name. The memory I'd like to share is a story whom his wife is very familiar with. Here is the story:

Charles was in elementary school (the name of which I forgot). The class was given a test and Charles got 100. But, between school and home Charles felt that he had done better than the common 100. So being a Figgins, he took charge and changed his grade to 102. When he gave his paper to his Mother to see, she questioned as to how he got 102 when the top grade was 100. Charles patiently explained that he felt that he had done better than 100 and graded his paper himself accordingly. From that time on, I'd often call him 102. We'd get the biggest laugh out of that childhood experience. As they say, "Precious Memories",

Charles was smart, nobody's fool (one without wisdom), but he was humble and you'd never know what was cooking in that head. Upon my graduation from UC his dear wife, Mary, reminded him that he was no longer the family's 102. She said he just grinned and bore it.

I will miss my dear "Brother" sorely. Although we didn't see each other that much, we stayed in touch via phone. It was always a joy to chat with him.

In closing, immediate and extended family, let us continue to love each other, care for each other and stay in touch with other. Wishing God's best for each and every one of you.
