Beverly Ann (Baker) Rucker, a beloved matriarch passed away peacefully at her home on May 25, 2026. Born on September 3, 1943 in Cincinnati, Ohio, she was the cherished daughter of the late Mary Dunn and Albert Baker.
Affectionately known as Penny to family and friends, she graduated from Seton High School. After graduation she attended the University of Cincinnati.
Penny was a doer with a strong work ethic. Her employment lasted over a span of fifty plus years and included; Pogue’s Department Store, LeBlond Machine Tool, Vine Street Cemetery, Jergen’s, Macy’s, DSW, Leggett and Platt, and Honey Baked Ham. When she was not working you could find Penny gardening and in the kitchen cooking. Penny loved gatherings, especially Christmas, and always made sure that there was an endless amount of food for all who came to gather. Her strongest quality was her giving heart as she enjoyed donating her time to serve others, taking family and friends to appointments and run errands. Penny loved to be in the stores and she never missed an opportunity to go to Jungle Jim’s.
Penny lived in Silverton, Ohio for over 60 years where she was a devoted and loving mother to her only son, JaMarkus T. Rucker. The bond they shared was unbreakable and full of unconditional love. She was an avid bowler and a member of the Queen City Bowling Senate and worked with the junior bowling program.
Penny was a rare treasure, a loving mother, grandmother, mother-in-law, aunt, cousin, friend, and neighbor. She can be described as kind, generous, resourceful, hardworking, a good neighbor, and community citizen who will be greatly missed. Her motto was Treat People Equally and she lived those words daily as she did not know a stranger and would help anyone ahead of herself.
Penny was preceded in death by her beloved mother, Mary Dunn, father, Albert Baker, and her brother Duane Dunn, Sr. She leaves behind to cherish her memory her devoted and loving son JaMarkus (Robyn), grandchildren; Hannah (Dylan), Sasha, and Kobe, nephews; Duane Dunn Jr. and David Dunn, cousins; Brenda Johnson, Martine (Renee) Dunn, Tara (Ryan) Chambers-Douglas, and cherished friends; Justine (Robert) Clark-Lomax, Annie Thompson, Frances Pearson, Bonnie Lacy, and a host of extended family and friends whose lives are forever enriched by her love, grace, and giving spirit.
