Betty Ann Ewing was born on September 5, 1930, Cincinnati, Ohio, to the union of Robert Lee Wilson and Arlethia Wilson in Cincinnati, Ohio. She was the second of seven children. She graduated from Woodward High School. She and Dillard Ewing were united in Holy Matrimony on June 30, 1950. They faced the joys and challenges of life together until Dillard went home to be with the Lord in 2001.
Betty accepted Christ at an early age and worked where needed in the church her father established, ‘God’s House of Prayer for All People’. She loved singing in the choir and the gospel group she and her sisters formed, ‘The Wilson Sisters’. At the retirement of her father from pastoring, Betty continued her faithfulness to ministry when she joined James Temple Church of God in Christ under the leadership of the late Bishop William Morgan James. As a member, she sang in the church choir, served as choir president, and taught Sunday school, just to name a few of the many ministries in which she was involved. In addition, she was a care giver for her mother and maternal aunt for fifteen years.
After James Temple, Betty was a member of Turning Point Ministries and Inspirational Bible Church.
Betty loved God, His Word, her family and life. She had great intellect and liked to debate. She was artistic and had a great eye for fashion and décor. She loved the holidays, coffee klatches with her sisters and laughter.
Betty Ewing peacefully departed this life on Thursday, November 21, 2024, surrounded by her family. She leaves to cherish her loving memory four children and their spouses: Gary Ewing (Cynthia Ewing), Dillard Ewing Jr. (Angela Ewing), Annette Haynes (Edgar Haynes I), and Pamela Massey (Stephan Massey).
