Bertha Beasley Israel, age 82, passed away on October 31, 2021. Bertha was born in Millbrook, Alabama to Fred and Clory Williams on June 23, 1939. She was the youngest of seven children. In her early twenties, she moved to Cincinnati, Ohio to start a career and to be closer to her siblings.
While establishing a new life in Cincinnati, Ohio, Bertha met David and they married in April of 1961. They were married for 54 years, until David’s passing in 2015. To this union was born four children, David, Barry, Tamar, and Deborah.
Bertha was a very devoted wife and mother. She embodied a spirit of excellence and her commitment and dedication to her children success was incomparable. She loved sharing time with her family and friends whom brought her great joy. Bertha worked as a Teacher’s Assistant in Cincinnati Public Schools system for 30 years. She enjoyed working with children and helping them learn. Bertha was also an active member of the YMCA silver sneakers program. She became very fond of the people there and they loved her as well.
Bertha loved the Most High, and solely believed in his power. At times, she would say, “The Mighty One takes care of me.”
She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred Williams and Clory Williams, husband, David Israel; siblings, Aldora, Tisba, Leoria, Carrie, Lillie, and Andrew.
She leaves to cherish her memories, her children, David (Abigail) Beasley, Barry (Carmen) Beasley, Tamar (Kevin) Mason, and Deborah (Ronnie) Smith; 9 grandchildren, Davita, David Jr., Le David, Barry Jr., Myron, Kiera, Kayla, Jasmine and Dorian; 11 great-greatchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Public Viewing will be held Friday, November 12, 2021 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Thompson Hall Jordan Funeral Home 11400 Winton Road, Forest Park, Ohio 45240. Funeral service will follow beginning at 11:00 AM.
Interment will take place at Spring Grove Cemetery, 4521 Spring Grove Avenue, Cincinnati, Ohio 45232.
