Bennie L. Ward was born November 20, 1943, in Cincinnati, Ohio to the union of Lee Sam and Vivian Cushingberry. Bennie along with his siblings were brought to Covington, Ky at a young age, where they attended Robbins Street Church under Rev. Dickerson. Bennie was baptized in 1985 at 9th Street Baptist Church under Rev. Fowler. Later joining United Christian Community Church under the late Bishop Charles T. Gaines.
In 1963 he graduated from William Grant High School in Covington, Ky. Bennie served in the U.S Navy from 1964 to 1968. In 1969 he received his barber license from West Kentucky Vocational Technical College. He also worked at Wiedemann’s Beer in the early 1970’s in Newport, Ky.
He opened another chapter in his life following his dad’s steps to be an Independent Truck Driver for many years. Also, a business owner of Partners Lounge in the late 1980’s. In 2007 Bennie retired due to his health issues but never stop fighting.
Bennie loved his family and friends, he loved music, cooking, cars, motorcycles, and basketball. Bennie had a heart of gold and he would help anyone. He loved being of service and he loved the Lord. Bennie never met a stranger; he knew people from many places, and they all loved him. He was one to inspire others to be better and do better.
Bennie was preceded in death by his parents; Lee Sam and Vivian Cushingberry, his brother; William Cushingberry and his sister; Saundra Whitlock.
He leaves to cherish his memories to his loving wife; Regina Ward, his children; Timika, Ayisha, Phillip, Angela, Nakia, 10 grandkids; Jamarvion, Kamren, Demarah, Jayana, A’nylah, Phillip Jr., Naeem, Autumn, Nakia Jr., and Tacori, sister; Shirley Hackett-Austin (John); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
