Mrs. Barbara Joyce Hamilton (Bishop) was born June 27, 1939 in Hazard, Kentucky to the late Raymond J. and Lucille Bishop, the second eldest of eleven children. She departed this earthly life and was called Home on April 14, 2020 at Cedar Village Senior Living Community in Mason, Ohio.
After graduation from MC Napier High School in Hazard, KY, she moved with the family to Cincinnati, Ohio in 1958. She worked for the Carousel Inn Hotel for seven years, the Kenner Toy Company for twelve years, and a number of years for the Twin Towers Retirement Home.
In 1965, she was married to the late Alfonzo Hamilton Sr. and through this union she raised five children and instilled in them the importance of education, hard work & perseverance, giving to others, and to love and enjoy life, family, and friends. She accepted Christ early in life and was a member of New Life Missionary Baptist Church where she served as President of Gospel Chorus, and Recording Secretary for the Missionary Society.
She remained an avid fan of her beloved Cincinnati Reds and Cincinnati Bengals and made sure her children were too! She watched as many games as she could, win or lose. She also enjoyed traveling with friends, visiting with family, listening to gospel music, and watching movies.
She leaves behind to celebrate and cherish her memories five children; Annette, Alfonzo Jr (Diane), Antonio, Anthony, and Adrian (Jennifer); seven grandchildren, Chelea, Rashawn, Alesha, Nicholas, Myles, Dimitri, and DJ; her brothers Eddie (Brenda), Matthew, and Bobby (Lisa); her sisters Sonjia (Henry), Mary (Ronald), Virginia(Odell), Elnora (Kelsey), and Louanna (Louis); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was preceded in death by her beloved brothers Paul (Ernestine) and Clyde (Toni).
