Sunrise began on June 29, 1941, for Arthur William Ferguson Jr. (AKA Butch or Art). Art was born to the union of Berdie and Arthur Ferguson, who preceded him in the transition to be with the Lord. Art was one of nine siblings: Joyce Griffin (deceased) husband Marvin (deceased), Melvin Ferguson (deceased), Kathleen (Jimmy), Pamela Quisenberry (Woodrow, deceased), Patricia (Anthony deceased), Deborah Cotton (deceased) husband Garry Cotton (deceased), Gregg Ferguson (Rebecca), Melissa Wilkerson (Albert).
Art was raised in a family that demonstrated love, family values and a love for God. Art accepted Christ at a young age and was baptized while attending Calvary United Methodist Church in Milford, Ohio.
Art had a willing SPIRIT for helping others when he could. He believed in encouraging and teaching them that they could fix the problem themselves. His motto was, “if it ever worked, it could work again, just step back and study it”, a lesson he learned from his Dad.
Art was a versatile tradesman. He was a Master Plumber, certified Electrician, Carpenter, etc. His goal was mastery.
Art loved working on vehicles such as antique cars, new and old models, motorhomes, just to name a few.
Art was not a materialistic person. He didn’t gravitate toward fancies but was happy for others who had them. He loved the mountains. He loved gazing at the magnificent sights and majesties of God’s creations. Art loved such things as hiking with family at Hocking Hills, also in several mountains in North Carolina and Tennessee. He loved vacationing with his wife across many states, but one of his favorites was traveling in their Motorhome to Cherokee, NC where he met many friends. While in North Carolina, Art made sure to visit family and friends and to search for long lost relatives.
Art was preceded in death by his two children, Darryl Ferguson and Dale Ferguson Ruffin; his siblings, Joyce Ferguson Griffin, Melvin Ferguson, and Deborah Ferguson Cotton.
Art leaves to cherish his memory, his wife Assistant Pastor Terri Ferguson of 32 and a half years, and his children who cherishes and honors their Dad, Renee (Lavelle), Donna (Trammell), Darrin Ferguson (Angie), Staci (Greg), Monica (Walter), Derrick (Felicia).
He had two grandchildren to proceed him in death, Diondre and Darrin Jr. Art Will be lovingly remembered by grandchildren, Dedrick, Dontaye, Deja, Dominic, Temika, Bryan, Ashanti, A’niyah, Larry, Jessie, Latwana, Helie, Alonzo, LaTarra, Gary, Tre, Daniel, Mayuanna, Destiny, Kayla, Chanel and Rick.
