Anthony “Gator” Stevens, born on Friday, July 14, 1961, to Joyce Everlyn Robinson and Herbert Franklin, passed away, leaving behind a legacy of service, love, and dedication to his family, community, and faith. Anthony spent most of his life in Lincoln Heights, Cincinnati, Ohio, one of the first African American self-governing communities, where he became a pillar of strength and support to all who knew him.
Anthony celebrated his life surrounded by family and friends, finding joy in the simple pleasures of life, including his love for basketball. He had a deep passion for helping others, a calling that led him to serve his country with honor in the United States Army, where he received an honorable discharge.
His love for God was the guiding force in his life. As a devoted pastor, Anthony shared God’s love and word in many churches within his community and beyond. His ministry touched countless lives, offering hope, inspiration, and spiritual guidance.
Anthony was also a man of many talents and entrepreneurial spirit. He loved driving 18-wheeler trucks, a passion that inspired him to establish his own trucking company, which allowed him to travel across numerous states and cities. Additionally, he founded Underchief Construction & Remodeling, LLC, where he utilized his skills to help others with various housing projects. From kitchen redesigns to carpentry, electric work, decks, tree services, and concrete sidewalks, Anthony’s work was marked by excellence and a genuine desire to improve the lives of others.
Anthony was preceded in death by his parents, Joyce Robinson and Herbert Franklin, as well as his siblings Eugene Stevens, Elaine F. Stevens, Raymond Stevens, and Leo Stevens. He leaves behind his cherished wife, Christy Stevens, and his beloved son, Anthony Nathaniel Stevens. He is also survived by his siblings Theodora (Willie) Williams, Terrence (Adrial) Stevens, Warren (Bobbie) Stevens, Gwendolyn Stevens, Letha (David) Burton, Leslie (Charles) Reynolds, Julian (Charlotte) Robinson, Stacey Howell Franklin, and Little Herbert Franklin, along with a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and friends.
