Andrew E. Waugh Jr. was a loving son, dad, brother, and uncle. He was born in Huntington, West Virginia, on March 3, 1964, to Andrew Sr. and Hilda Waugh. He experienced the country life and loved it as a country boy, and when he turned 2 years old, he moved with his family to the big city of Cincinnati.
Andrew accepted Jesus Christ at an early age. He was a faithful member of Israel Baptist Missionary Church for 15 years under the leadership of Dr. Nathaniel Young, where he sang in the choir and served as an usher. In later years, he fellowshipped with his mom and daughter at Soul Winning Church of God under the leadership of Pastor David A. Cunningham Sr.
Some of his favorite pastimes were going to car shows with his high school best friend, Mark Rosser, and attending wrestling events with his nephew Chris and his uncle Tommy. He also loved watching boxing matches and was an avid weightlifter, working out daily. He enjoyed going to the Smoot Family Reunion in Madison, West Virginia. He was blessed to attend this year’s reunion during the second weekend of August, and he wore the many reunion shirts he had with pride.
Andrew had a great childhood. He grew up in the H section of Forest Park on Hitchcock and was part of the infamous Hitchcock crew. He enjoyed fun times playing basketball, hanging out at the park and tennis courts, and playing nighttime games with many childhood friends. He loved all kinds of music—gospel, oldies R&B, classic soul, and his all-time favorite, rap.
He graduated from Walnut Hills High School in 1982 and went on to attend the University of Cincinnati, studying Information Systems. During his high school years, he was very active in sports, playing football and running track. In 1998, he began working for the United States Postal Service on Dalton Avenue, where he worked for 23 years before retiring in 2021. During his time at the Post Office as a mail processing clerk, he developed many memorable friendships, including one with Pastor David A. Cunningham Sr.
His daughter, Ciara Nicole, and his mother, Hilda Rose, were his inspiration, pride, and joy. His dad, Andrew Sr., was his source of strength, speaking with him daily. He loved his parents dearly to the end. He is preceded in death by his mother, Hilda Rose Waugh. He leaves to cherish his memory his daughter, Ciara Nicole Waugh; father, Andrew Waugh Sr.; sister, Kimberly Gary; brother-in-law, Rob Gary; nephew, Christopher Waugh; niece, Gracie Gary; aunt, Cindy Creasy; cousin, Deonte Creasy; bonus brother, Rolland Keith Mitchell; and a host of cousins.
