Alice Toney

Alice Elizabeth Toney (Kennedy) was born
on June 30, 1919 to the late Harvey Kennedy
and Annie Kennedy (Southers). Alice was the
seventh child out of 11, all who have preceded
her in death. Alice departed this life on April 10,
2014.
Alice moved to Cincinnati in 1936 where she
met the late Lorenzo Toney, Jr. and later married
in 1938.
Alice graduated from Hughes High School
(East Night). She later attended and graduated
from The University of Cincinnati in 1973 as a
Educational Teacher. She cherished her granddaughter,
Lorien and retired from Cincinnati
Public Schools to devote her time to her.
Alice was baptized at an early age and
remained a faithful and devoted member at the
Church of Christ. She loved reading, teaching
and discussing the scriptures, whether you had
an open or closed ear. She enjoyed attending the
Golden Age with fellow members until her
health started to decline. Alice gave herself to all
unconditionally.
Alice was preceded in death by two sons,
Ernest Kennedy and Clarence Toney; one
grandson, Clarence Jr.; and one granddaughter,
Lorien Johnson.
She will be cherished in memory by: two
daughters, Alice Grissom and Lorenda
Davalous (Victor); 12 grandchildren, Donnetta
(Don), Lorenzo III, Orlando (Sheila), Kenneth
(Michell), Anthony, Aaron, Damon, Daren,
Landon, Jerrin, Sha’ven and Stevon; eight greatgrandchildren,
Clarence III, Claresa, Doncherie,
Donnita, Donna, Karina, Kialya and Darien;
five great-great-grandchildren; one daughter-inlaw,
Wilma Toney; three nephews, Billy,
Dwayne and Demetrius; four nieces, Dora,
Alice, Melinda and Dannitta; special friend of
family, Damien Johnson; and a host of other
family members.
