Alexis was born (Angelica Marie Lawhorn), in Bainbridge, Georgia on March 12, 1994, to Anita Lawhorn, and Lewis Moore. In 2000, God blessed her to her mother, W. Dean Rutland.
Alexis Denean Rutland, suddenly passed away on April 28, 2024, at the age of 30 while doing what she loved most, enjoying quality time with her family.
Over the course of Alexis’s school career, she attended various schools in NY, NC, and eventually went on to graduate high school in 2012 while living in Shaker Heights, OH. Alexis was awarded several accolades in high school, including; a computer from the Delta Sigma’s Theta’s for writing an essay, a computer and $1000.00 for writing an essay from the City of Cleveland, and a $500 cash award that she decided to donate to a foster child in need; which the school turned it into the Alexis Rutland Scholarship. Alexis received a full scholarship to Notre Dame, where she attended briefly, for her exceptional skills in playing Rugby. After leaving Notre Dame she moved to Cincinnati where she worked various jobs until she started working at the Cincinnati Children’s Hospital as a health information management representative. In 2022, Alexis earned her Associate’s Degree in Health Information Management from Cincinnati State Technical and Community College. Earlier that year, she and her fiancée fulfilled their dream of becoming first time home owners.
Alexis is survived by the love of her life and fiancée, Elijah Sweeten, her daughter-in-love, Asia Sweeten, and her two sons, Emajhe Sweeten, and Elijah Sweeten Jr.; Mother, W. Sweeten, Father-in-Love, Dorvis Sweeten, of Cincinnati, OH; Siblings; John (Trina) Rutland, of Dallas Texas; Latasha Rutland, of Rochester, NY; Talisa Rutland, of Charlotte, NC; Alliyah Rutland, of Cleveland, OH; Bridget Kimbrough, Breuna Moore, of Albany GA; Alicia Shorter, Coseine Moore, of Atlanta, GA; Lonnell Washington, Jamarion Lawhorn, A’Reonna Harrold, Francisca Harrold, of Grand Rapids, Michigan; Aunts & Uncles; Angela D. Known for her infectious smile and kind heart, Alexis will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Alexis’s family asks that she be remembered for the joy she brought to others in life not the sadness of her passing.
