A service of memory celebrating the life of Mary E. Foster Young (Nee Mays). Mary went to be with the Lord on May 29, 2013. Mary was born to the late Otis and Janie Mays on July 21, 1927 in Barnesville, GA.
Mary was united in holy matrimony to Walter Foster, Jr. To this union six children were born. In 1960, Mary married Clarence Young. From this union two children were born. Early in life, Mary was a member of Sand Hill Baptist Church in Barnesville, GA. Upon moving to Middletown, OH, she joined Friendship Baptist Church under the leadership of her uncle, the Rev. Willie Bankston and also attended Faith United Church under the leadership of the Rev. Michael A. Bailey. Upon her passing, she was faithful member of God’s Temple of Peace Church in Dayton, OH, under the leadership of her loving precious nephew, Bishop Mark Mays.
Mary was preceded in death by two children, Arthur Lee Foster and Robert L. Foster; her parents Otis and Janie Mays, sister Cora Fletcher and brother Willie James Mays and step-brother Lewis Settles and his wife Eula Mae and stepmother Bessie Foster . She leaves not to mourn but to cherish her memory six children; James W. Foster (Brenda) of Conyers, GA, James E. Foster of Lithonia, GA, Mary R. Harris (Felix) of Dayton, OH, Columbus Foster (Sheila) of Middletown, OH, Carl Foster (Deborah) of Middletown, OH, Kenneth Young of Middletown, OH; one sister Bessye Wilson (Lavell) of Los Angeles, CA, one brother Herbert Mays of Rome, GA; three step-brothers Steve Foster, Randy Foster both of Barnesville, GA and Joe Whatley of Dayton, OH; two sisters-in-law Annette Alford of Forsyth, GA and Estella Barrett of Griffin, GA; special nephew Bishop Mark J. Mays (Alma) of Dayton, OH and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Mary raised her children religiously and instilled the Lord’s word through revivals and the Bible as well as moral values and work ethics in them all. Most of all she instilled love and family.
