

















































































Lillian Lockett was born in Detroit, Michigan on July 7, 1925. She was the youngest of three children of Alonso Beckham and Edna Beckham. She grew up in St. Louis, Missouri.
After completing an instructors license at the Poro School of Beauty Culture where she taught in the summers, Lillian attended Bennet College for three years, then graduated from Gradwohl College in 1955. In 1946, while teaching cosmetology, Lillian met Millard Lockett who was in Barber College across the street. They married in 1949.
Lillian and Millard were married 62 years and had four children: Michelle Lockett, Millard Fillmore (Margret) Lockett, Jr., Nicole Lockett and Eric Oliver (Sarah) Lockett, Sr. She had seven grandchildren: Jeffery, Janelle, Eric Jr., Anthony, Alisa, Mark (Lashanda) and Alexis; and great-grandchildren, Olivia, Lilith and Michael.
She was a long time member of Calvary United Metho- dist Church and the Methodist Women’s Organization.
