Lee Jackson Davis was born on February 18, 1920 in Cin-cinnati, Ohio. He was the beloved son of the late Lee and Stella Davis.
Lee married the late Essie “Smith” Davis in 1941 and to this union, they were blessed with three wonderful daughters.
Lee was employed with the United States Post Office as a mail handler. He retired after 35 years of dedicated and loyal service.
Lee Davis: a man of honor, integrity, humility who had a cheerful disposition and known for his winning smile. He was a true family man full of encouragement to his wife, children, family and friends.
Lee Davis was a man who had that uncanny ability to think out of the box and left lasting impressions on the family by a multitude of learning materials. One phrase that was often echoed around the house was “where there is a will, there is a way”. In addition, the term “I CAN’T” was seldom heard.
Lee loved to travel. One of the more memorable moments was in the early 1960s when he took his entire family of 5 on a cross country trip on the “EL CAPITAN” double decker train. WOW!!! What a role model! In addition, Lee enjoyed other family trips and Cruises. Oh Yes! The trip to Italy during his military service years that we all heard so much about. His love of travel, adventure and inquisitive mind set has been an inspiration to us all.
As a World War II Veteran, Lee was invited to participate in the Honor Flight to Washington, DC in April, 2012. He was accompanied by his grandson (KOFI) and had his picture taken with Bob Dole.
Lee lived a good life and was able to take full advantage of all the wonderful gifts that God has bestowed upon him no matter how large or small! He departed this earthly life on Sunday, July 14, 2013. Lee was preceded in death by his parents, wife, two brothers, one niece and one nephew.
Lee leaves to cherish his memory: his children, Roberta Carter (Owen), Bernice Davis and Helen Davis; one brother, Henry Davis (Cleora); three grandchildren, Gregory Carter (Beverly), Kimberly Carter and Kofi Davis; one great-grandchild, Kyle Carter; and a host of very special and much loved nieces, nephew, great-nieces and nephew, step-great-grandchildren.
