Larry Thornton aka “Nine” was born in Logan, West
Virginia on December 20, 1950 to the union of Ruby Lee
Thornton and the late Isaac Lee Thornton, Sr. He
departed this life on Sunday, April 6, 2014.
He accepted Christ as his personal Savior and was
baptized at an early age and attended the House of God
under the leadership of the late Bishop F.C Scott. He
attended Hughes High School. He was well known in the
Cumminsville community and shared a large extended
family with people from that area.
He was preceded in death by his father, Isaac Thornton,
Sr., a brother, Sylvester Lee Thornton and two sisters,
Annie Humphrey and Jaquilla Jones.
He leaves to mourn: his beloved mother, Ruby Lee
Thornton; six children, Renee (Tony) Mays, Alando
(Nellie) Anderson, Stephanie (Edwin) Woodward, Ashley
Duke, Juan Thomas (Dara) and Lashawn Corbin; five
sisters, Yvonne Lucado, Sondra Thornton, Yolanda Thornton,
Acqueelah Thornton and Stephanie Thornton; six
brothers, Isaac Thornton, Jr., Aster Thornton, Shane
Thornton, Stanley Thornton, Phillip Thornton and Steven
Thornton; 17 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren;
and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He will be greatly missed by “T.J.” his great nephew with
whom he spent a considerable amount of time.
