I too am an alumni of Taft's Tigers and went to school with Jim. I must agree that Jim was a bit on the shy side, but was always quick to return a greeting. Jim and I never had any classes together but you must have been a total idiot not to have known Jim due to his many accomplishments on the basketball court. One of my fondest memories of Jim is the part he played the night Hamilton Taft beat Cincinnati Taft in the Tigers' gymnasium 108-54; man, what a night; what a basketball year. Jim will be greatly missed.

Alan L. Browne left a message on December 1, 2013:
It is with great sorrow that I have learned of Jim's passing. I was in the Taft High School Class of 1962 with him and he provided us with the highlight of our senior year, winning the state basketball championship through his stellar play which in recent years was recognized by his being inducted into the Butler County Sports Hall of Fame. I knew Jim personally as he and I both spent the last period study hall together in the school library where we had much more freedom to talk and actually get to know one another. He was a wonderful kind soul, a little reserved/almost shy at times but certainly gained my respect as an honest caring person. Year's after graduation I learned that both he and I worked for General Motors in Michigan (from which we both retired) though our paths unfortunately never crossed. My prayers for him and his family. He certainly will be missed though the great memories that he has left with us will certainly remain. Sincerely Alan L. Browne, Taft '62.

Mike and I, and Mike's brother Mal who is visiting us for Thanksgiving, wish to send heartfelt condolences to Jim's family. We will never forget his part in leading our Tigers to Taft's first state championship. Further, a game Jim was in at Miami was the only game I attended my whole four years there, and I went just to see him play. Rest in peace, Jim. Ginny Boone Frye

From 1960 to 1962 Jim was a basketball legend at Taft Senior High School, Hamilton, Ohio. Jim went on to study and play ball at Miami University, Oxford, Ohio..... there are so many of us who loved watching him play. Jim was a soft-spoken, kind man. I am honored to have known Jim. May he rest in peace.
