Eugene R. Clifford, Sr. was born August 18, 1939 to the late Raymond and Sarah Clifford, in Cincinnati, Ohio. He departed his life at his home on August 9, 2014 at the tender age of 74. He was the eldest of four children.
Eugene attended Taft High School and graduated from Hughes Evening School. He entered the U.S. Army in 1964 and was honorably discharged in 1966. Upon his return from the Army, he went on to achieve many of his accomplishments.
He started as a waiter at Mariemont Inn, onto waiting tables at Mike Finks, Sanitation for the City of Cincin-nati, driving semi’s for Interstate/Butternut Bread, returning to school to read blue prints, to Rod buster for Messer Construction, onto owning his own business, Clifford’s Carryout — a lifelong dream…he carried out. “Our Rock” was built to last!
Eugene’s favorite pastime was watching cowboys and riding motorcycles. Eugene was a determined, hard worker who worked hard at every endeavor at task. He was ―Our Rock‖ — the one we could call on at any given time. May it be morning, noon or night, he was coming to see about you. Whether it was to support, encouraging words, to lend a hand, money or his time — his continuity stood the test of time. As he would say, ―When they made me, they broke the mold.‖ He will forever be loved and missed.
His beloved wife of 28 years, Clara Clifford, daughter, Dujuna Webster, first grandchild, Jermico L. Clifford, Sr. and sister, Sharleen Watkins, preceded him in death.
Eugene leaves to cherish his memories: his children, Sarah Reed (Wendell), Eugene Clifford, Jr. (Tracey), Aaron Webster (Ramona) and Lorrie Clifford, all of Cincinnati, Ohio; one brother, Calvin Clifford (Sylvia); one sister, Yvonne Graham (Claude); 22 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Rest on Daddy. We love you!! See you when we get there.
